The Accounting Technician position is the entry-level para-professional position in the Department. This para-professional auditing position assists with the on-site audits and compliance examinations of local governmental entities and school boards.
Compensation
The starting base salary is $35,625.60. While the starting base salary is $35,625.60 the total job value with all the fringe benefits is illustrated in this graphic. The state issues pay checks on a semi-monthly basis, generally the 1st and the 16th of each month and does pay 2 weeks in arrears. Meaning you would receive your 1st paycheck one month after beginning work.
Work Hours
This position is Monday – Friday, 8 hours a day. The official office hours of the Department are 7:45 – 4:45. Employees may begin work as early as 7 am and may leave work as early as 4 pm. Employees are required to work 8 hours a day and may take either a 30-minute lunch break or a 1-hour lunch break.
Travel
Employees spend the majority of their work time at the auditee’s location. This will require daily travel by employees to the audit site. The assigned audit site can be as far as 60 to 70 miles from the employee’s work base. Therefore, extensive daily travel is required. Overnight travel is very minimal. Employees do travel in their personal vehicles; however, the employee is reimbursed based on the mileage both to and from the audit site.
