The Compliance Examiner I position is the entry-level position in the Department for individuals with a degree in Business Administration, Public Administration or related fields. This is a professional position performing legal compliance examinations of state agencies, colleges, school boards, and local governmental entities.
Compensation
The starting base salary is $45,556.80. While the starting base salary is $45,556.80 the total job value with all the fringe benefits is illustrated below.
Work Hours
This position is Monday – Friday, 8 hours a day. The official office hours of the Department are 7:45 – 4:45. Employees may begin work as early as 7 am and may leave work as early as 4 pm. Employees are required to work 8 hours a day and may take either a 30-minute lunch break or a 1-hour lunch break. .
Travel
Employees spend the majority of their work time at the auditee’s location. The work of the Operational and State Audit divisions is concentrated in the Montgomery County area with minimal travel to other counties of the state. The work of the County Audit division can be as far as 60 to 70 miles from the employee's work base. Therefore, extensive daily travel is required in the County Audit division.

Upward Progression
Employees in the Compliance Examiner I job classification are eligible to be considered for promotion to a Compliance Examiner II after 18-months of service as a Compliance Examiner I. Upon promotion to a Compliance Examiner II the employee will receive a 5% promotional salary increase and the serve another probationary period of 6 months. Upon successful completion of this probationary period the employee will be eligible for a salary increase of either 2.5% or 5%.
