Othni Lathram |
Othni J. Lathram is the director of the Legislative Services Agency. Prior to working for the Alabama Legislature, he practiced law in Birmingham with a focus on complex litigation. He is a member of the bar in Alabama and Texas and has been admitted to practice before federal district and circuit courts around the country. Othni received his B.S. in Economics from Auburn University and his J.D. from the University of Alabama. He is an elected member of the American Law Institute, is a Commissioner with the National Conference of Commissioners on Uniform State Laws serving on its Style Committee, is a member of the Alabama Supreme Court’s Standing Committee on the Rules of Judicial Administration, is the author of a treatise on the Alabama Rules of Civil Procedure, and is an adjunct professor at the University of Alabama School of Law. He has previously served on the Executive Committee and Legislative Staff Coordinating Committee of the National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL), the Alabama Supreme Court’s Standing Committees on the Rules of Civil Procedure, the Rules of Criminal Procedure, and the Criminal Pattern Jury Instructions, and numerous drafting committees for uniform and model acts. |
