The Legal Division is the principal bill drafting and legal research office serving the Legislature of the State of Alabama. The Legal Division is also charged with overseeing the Administrative Rules Process. The Legislative Reference Service was established as a legislative agency by an act of the Legislature in 1945 and became the Legal Division of the Legislative Services Agency in 2017.
